Darrel Nasogaluak

Darrel Nasogaluak is an Inuvialuk man and was born Inuvik, NT and raised in Sachs Harbour and Tuktoyaktuk.   Darrel spent summers with his grandparents where he was taught the cultural and traditional way of life of the Inuvialuit.

Darrel has more than 20 years sitting on local community governments and boards.  Darrel served as mayor of Tuktoyaktuk from 2014 to 2017,  Board member on Tuktoyaktuk Community Corporation and is currently the Chair  of the Tuktoyaktuk Hunters & Trappers committee.  He is also one of the founding members of the Tuktoyaktuk Center for the Arts & Culture working group. 

Darrel is a traditional carver and knowledge keeper and is one of the few Inuvialuit who is trained in traditional kayak making.  Darrel teaches stone carving, kayak making and traditional hunting tools and hunting gear to youth.

Darrel is also active in traditional hunting and fishing and enjoys spending his time out on the land and at his camp in Husky Lakes. Darrel and his wife Josephine currently make their home in Tuktoyaktuk with their daughter Sabrina.
