Ikalualuq

Ikalualuq was born and raised in Tuktoyaktuk. He is fluent in the Inuvialuktun language. Ikalualuqs father, Raddi Koiksak, and mother, Ivy Koiksak, are one of the founding families of Tuktoyaktuk. 

Ikalualuq has been actively involved in community development for more than 30 years. He currently sits as a councilor for the Incorporated Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk, and a board member of both the Tuktoyaktuk Community Corporation and the Tuktoyaktuk Hunters & Trappers Committee. He is also a founding member of the Tuktoyaktuk Centre for the Arts & Culture Society. 

Ikalualuq and his wife Debbie are retired and have four children. They actively practice their traditional lifestyle in hunting, trapping, fishing and traditional clothing and tool making. Ikalualuq has a deep love for his people and the land, which you will notice when speaking with him.
